Talk is Cheap - Book Review

TALK IS CHEAP

Godfrey Harris with Gregrey J. Harris

This book provides much needed information on how to promote your business through 'word of mouth' advertising..

According to the authors, lots of people understand the power of word of mouth advertising but few understand how to make it work consistently for them. This book shows you exactly what to do to make your customers your most efficient form of advertising.

The authors offer great tips on not only maintaining the loyalty of customers, but also how to use that loyalty to get referrals.

Some of the steps are, of course,

Listen to your customers

your customers are consumers who are empowered with great information and savvy buyers. Don't pass up the opportunity to seek their opinion about your service and the products offered.

Reward your customers. They deserve recognition

Do you send out "Thank You" cards after a customer purchase your product. Establishing relationships with your customers involves honestly getting to know them and their interests. Find out birthdays.. and send cards on holidays... Surprise your customer with discounts.. and cards of thanks. Watch your Customers.. they are reacting Absolutely! When a customer is using your product, they are reacting! Body language is key, and also the fact that they are no longer purchasing products from you could be a big clue. It is important to keep in touch with your customers, to get their reactions about their purchases.

Inform your customers

When a customer purchase one of your products, do take the time to instruct them on its use so that they can take full advantage of the benefits of the product. Also, check with them periodically to find out if in fact they are satisfied and are receiving value from the product.

Probe Your Customers

They do have ideas as noted above, customers are savvy shoppers. They are aware of the latest trends, and can inform you as to what products consumers would enjoy and would use on a daily basis.

When you have loyal, satisfied customers and display your genuine interest in their needs, you can then request referrals, request a testimony, and or ask them to be a resource for other customers.

And, of course, you should make sure that your product does, in fact, offer value.. is a "conversation piece."

As marketers, we must be creative in attracting customers! Having other customers to sell for you is not remarkable, but to monetize a specific plan or steps to using word of mouth advertising for your business, as the author states, "need not be left to luck!"

Managing Multiple Streams of Income - Branding Yourself

Managing Multiple Streams of Income - Branding Yourself!

One of many ways of managing multiple streams of income is to Brand Yourself.

Why Brand Yourself in lieu of Branding Products?

People follow people not products. People want to know that you can lead them to success. Additionally, what if your company's policies have changed where you are no longer permitted to use their brand name in advertising, within email addresses, domain names, and social media sites; or suppose the company closes shop leaving only you with no products to promote. If you branded the products instead of yourself, you know have to remove anything promoting the now non-existent product, such as your business website, social media fan pages, free and paid ads, domain names, email address, etc.

How to Brand Yourself

The key to branding yourself online is by providing value to your visitors. Every network marketer in this world has a special skill or knowledge that can be shared with others. Perhaps you are skilled at communications, presenting, marketing, mentoring, illustrating, engaging people, crushing numbers, graphics, word processing, word smith, etc. People want to know, and desire to learn through others with specialty experience.

What value can you share?

Share what you have learned from attending training events, the books you've read on personal development, the courses you've purchased and studied re marketing your business online and offline, nuggets you've learned either through your mentors or through hard knocks. Such information or learned skills can be shared with visitors to your website, leads you've generated, mailing lists, articles, fans, and social media sites, and groups.

Also, important is sharing your story. Everyone has a story and your story just may inspire and motivate others to not give up and to 'crush' to succeed. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, because, as my mentor explains to me, people want to know you, hear what you have to say, and feel connected to someone who may have experienced similar circumstances. People want to know your story of how you achieved success through adversity or how you overcame stumbling blocks. As they say, scarred hands heals best!

Sharing your expertise is how people will learn to trust you, trust your judgment, understand you as being a pro marketer. The end result, people will want to join you, joint venture with you, and/or partner with YOU!

There is Value in Branding yourself!

Importance of Multiple Streams of Income

Why You Need Multiple Streams of Income

You are more than likely already receiving multiple streams of income in your household. For example, your spouse may be working a full-time or part-time job; and, possibly your children, if they are of age, may be working during the summer to either contribute to the household, save money for college, purchase school clothes, etc. Because of the economy, building a portfolio of many multiple streams of income has become a necessity.

Why is multiple streams of income important? If one stream of income coming into the household is no longer available because of a loss of a job or perhaps disability, then living on one income and trying to maintain your current lifestyle prior to this loss, can be devastating to a family. Such loss of income possibly could result in one family member working two jobs, a stricter budget, loss of a home, etc.

You see, in schools, they do not teach us about money. What we do know is absorbed from our parents or from 'hard-knocks,' when we are old enough to leave our parents home and have to fend for ourselves. However, those who are prosperous know that having a diversified portfolio with many streams of income is important. If one source of income dries up, then they can tap into their other sources of income; thus, with a loss, they are still comfortable, stable, safe and are able to comfortable replenish the dried source. This is why it is so important to build a portfolio with many streams of income. If you stay ready, you do not have to get ready.

Remember, you cannot totally depend on your job for your livelihood. A job is only temporary, and in today's economy, no one's job is safe. It is risky to have it as being the only source of income for your household.

The most important thing that you need is multiple streams of income.
